Jose Pena joined APCD in 2003 and worked as a Collector. After four years of work, he left the agency to continue with this education. He re-joined the agency in 2010, and from then, he has worked at different levels starting from Collector to Crew Leader and is now working as a Field Supervisor. He graduated from the College of Sequoias with an Associates of Science Degree. His role is to lead and supervise field operations, such as tissue collections, tree removals, deploying traps, and servicing traps. He holds Qualified Applicator License (QAL) in Plant Ag and Regulatory categories and is a two-times safety award winner. His career goals are to work towards protection of citrus groves of the valley from pests and diseases and retire with the agency. Jose has lived in Visalia his whole life and keeps himself busy with his four kids and coaches’ kids’ sporting teams. In free time, he enjoys attending professional sporting events and concerts with his friends and family. His other hobbies include gardening, travelling, and making memories with his family.
